Chiavica dell'Agrifoglio

La Chiavica dell’Agrifoglio fu costruita alla fine del ’600 su un’ansa del Po di Volano, in sostituzione della Chiavica di Volano distrutta nel 1672 dalle mareggiate. La Chiavica, alla quale giungevano i Canali Galvano e Ippolito, funzionava a “porte vinciane” e permetteva lo scolo nel Volano delle acque basse del territorio pomposiano; i successivi prosciugamenti di Valle Giralda e dell’ansa del Volano e l’abbassamento del terreno resero, comunque, inservibile il manufatto. Fin verso la metà del 1900 la Chiavica era in discrete condizioni, mentre ora è fatiscente e in parte crollata. L’edificio è di proprietà del Consorzio di Bonifica I Circondario Polesine di Ferrara, mentre le terre appartengono al demanio della Regione Emilia-Romagna (ex E.R.S.A., Ente Regionale Sviluppo Agricolo). Il manufatto presenta un corpo rettangolare con muratura in laterizio e tetto a due falde, ormai crollato, longitudinalmente attraversato da un androne passante al quale si accede da ingressi sormontati da archi a tutto sesto. Il prospetto nord è cieco, mentre in quello sud si aprono otto grandi finestre di forma rettangolare, di cui ora tre sono murate; internamente si possono individuare resti dell’originaria pavimentazione in cotto. La Chiavica è costituita di otto conche, quattro minori a est e quattro maggiori a ovest (queste ultime dovute ad un ampliamento della chiavica del 1754), sormontate da volte a botte in cotto poste su piloni cuneiformi. Alcune conche, ora prive delle antiche paratie verticali in legno, conservano i gargami (elementi di appoggio) in pietra d’Istria. Esternamente si può notare una pietra riportante i livelli altimetrici delle acque.
